The Herbfarm Restaurant and Willows Lodge Suites, Woodinville Washington
The Herbfarm Restaurant, renowned for being the only 5-star restaurant west of Chicago and north of San Francisco, features an eclectic array of design elements, set off by multicolored wall glazes in the main dining room, formal entry/lobby, stairwell to the second floor, Venetian plaster in the ladies salon, and a faux painted embossed diamond shaped “fabric” treatment above the wainscoting in the loo.Even the wine cork belly band fronting the open theater kitchen was antiqued with a sienna umber glaze.
The 2 guest suites and foyer in the Willows Lodge adjacent to the restaurant received multi-colored glazes thematically consistent with the furnishings, drapes, and bedding, as well as a Venetian plaster ceiling, and carrara plaster headboard wall.
The exterior of the restaurant was covered with a preexisting neutral off white stucco. To make the building appear old and weathered, I color washed the entire structure with diluted glazes of japan paints; Burnt Umber, Raw sienna, burnt sienna, and Raw umber, rubbed into the stucco and spattered with paint thinner, allowing the colors to randomly run down and streak and spatter the walls.
